As I'm sure you've noticed, Piper has an interesting hair do, long on the top in the middle no hair on either side on top. Once we got back to the hotel on the first day with her, I began to try and figure out exactly what was going on with her hair. She had a faint bruise that went in a straight line right down the middle of both of the bald spots on top. I asked our guide, Xi Xi about it and she immediately said, "Oh yes, that's where she had an IV in her head." Okay. I had read that in the orphanage that's how they administer medicine to the babies when they are sick. Piper was getting over something when we met her, so we think she had an IV maybe last week or so. It is obvious when you look up close that they shaved 2 little spots on the top of her head to make a place to put the IV, hence the interesting hair do. Not sure how we'll even it out as it grows in. Right now, it's just part of her charm.
This morning the group went to Old Time Chongqing, a narrow, ancient road with little shops all along. Lots of interesting things to see...and smell. That's one thing I won't miss. You are walking along and all of the sudden you are broadsided by a stench so strong it takes your breath away. One person described it as walking behind a flatulent smoker with really bad B.O., walking home from his job at a soy sauce factory. Xi Xi said we are smelling tofu. I'm pretty sure I won't be eating tofu while we are here. Not knowingly at least. We bought some things to bring home for the kids, very cheap - you know I like that!
Piper has been asleep for about 2 hours. When she wakes up we have to get packed to leave tomorrow and then we are going to a restaurant with the Musgroves on the 35 th floor of one of the hotels here. Looking forward to seeing the view on our last night here.
Don't know if we will have time to post before we get to Guangzhou or not so I will try and post a few more pictures of Chongqing.
